It is with sadness the family announce the passing of Roger Torkel Macara on Monday July 11, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Moose Jaw and raised on the family farm in the Mortlach/Caron District. He was a lifelong farmer from the age of 16. He met Marilyn and they were married in 1966 and raised two daughters. Roger was a RM counselor and Reeve for many years, sat on many boards as an active community member and had his pilot’s license. He was admired by everyone of all ages and had a way of making friends with everyone including children. He was willing to help anyone and everyone, he could fix anything and was often referred to as “One in a Million”. Predeceased by his parents; son Kelly, one brother and one sister. He will be sadly missed by his wife Marilyn; daughter Dana (Kevin) Haukaas; Delee (Ken) Linsley; grandchildren Dylan (Kylie), Meghan, Spencer (Jaden), Hayden (Kasie); two sisters; special friend Bill Webb as well as nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Come and Go Tea will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022, from 2-4 PM at the Mortlach Community Hall. For those wishing memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Moose Jaw Humane Society, Stars Air Ambulance, or charity of choice.
