Saskatchewan's economy has remained in good shape despite the world's economic downturn.  Capital investment has remained strong in Saskatchewan.

Enterprise and Innovation Minister Lyle Stewart explains how Saskatchewan's investment fared in 2008, "Statistics Canada released the figures on public and private investment for 2008 and we're delighted to see that Saskatchewan had a 19.8 percent increase in 2008 over 2007, which led the country and that pretty good news for the province."

Stewart explains how Saskatchewan is expected to fare in 2009, "We're expecting things to slow down some but we think we'll either lead the country or be one of the leaders of the country in 2009.  Statistics Canada shows we will grow in public and private investment by one percent in 2009, where almost every other province will see a decline."

Stewart adds the capital investment intentions are important to gauge economic progress.  Saskatchewan's capital investment has almost doubled since 2004.
