A long-standing tradition in the Village of Marquis is returning for another year on June 29.

The Marquis and Area Community Association is hosting the community’s annual Sports Day. The day will include a slo-pitch tournament, kid's activities and a concession.

New this year will be a show and shine taking place at the Marquis Rink parking lot.

“We are not limited to what type of vehicle you bring. We encourage you to bring anything that you think you’d love to show off because we’re going to hopefully get some people coming out hat are going to want to take a look and walk through (the show and shine),” said Marquis and Area Community Association board member Frank Michel.

There is no fee to register your vehicle for the show and shine. However, those looking to take part are asked to pre-register as there is limited space.

“We are limited to 100 cars, so we do encourage you to start getting out your applications and your registration. There’s no fee,” Michel said.

The day will begin with the registration of ball teams from 10 to 11 a.m. inside the rink with Sports Day festivities beginning at 11. Registration fee is $100 per team.

On the sports grounds, there will be concessions and a beer gardens. For the kids, there will be an inflatable slide, horse-drawn wagon rides and games until 4 p.m.
