The Moose Jaw Warriors made a trade at the WHL trade deadline yesterday, picking up goaltender Evan May from the Medicine Hat Tigers in exchange for a third round pick in 2027.

Starting goaltender Jackson Unger responded by stopping all 15 shots he faced to pick up his second shutout of the season as the Warriors blanked the Victoria Royals 5-0 last night at the Hangar. Ungar is tops among WHL goaltenders with 20 wins.

The Warriors are back in action on Saturday when they host the Vancouver Giants for the Warriors and Legends Hall of Fame Game.

The Winmar AAA Warriors hit the ice this weekend. On Saturday and Sunday afternoons at the Moose Jaw Events Centre, they host the Yorkton Maulers for a pair of games. Game times are 1:30 p.m. on both days.

A reminder the Sask Selects Battle of the Prairies takes place at the Yara Centre starting today and running until Sunday. It will feature teams and players from across the prairie provinces as well as teams from California and Boston. The games begin at 11:30 a.m. today.

In senior boys' high school basketball last night, Swift Current defeated Peacock 79-72.

Over to JV girls basketball, Briercrest were 46-29 victors over Lumsden. The Riverview/Cornerstone JV boys defeated Briercrest 7--37 last night, while Assiniboia defeated Notre Dame 71-63. In junior girls' action, Vanier defeated Assiniboia 36-34.

And finally only three games in the NHL last night. The Montreal Canadiens was the only Canadian team in action as they lost to the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2 in a shootout.
