The Moose Jaw Warriors have five players from this year’s roster heading off to NHL camps this week. Captain Denton Mateychuk is attending his second training camp with the Columbus Blue Jackets.  Mateychuk will be joined by former Warriors forward Martin Rysavy at the camp. Brayden Yager and Atley Calvert are hitting the ice with the Pittsburgh Penguins this week. Jagger Firkus is preparing to head to his second training camp with the Seattle Kraken. Lucas Brenton is heading to his first NHL camp as a camp invite with the Chicago Blackhawks. Members of last year’s team, Max Wanner and Ryder Korczak, are also preparing to head to training camp with the Edmonton Oilers and New York Rangers, respectively.

The Warriors continue their preseason Friday night in Brandon, before returning home for their preseason opener at the Moose Jaw Events Centre on Saturday against the Wheat Kings.

The Toronto Blue Jays lost for just the third time in 11 games as they dropped a 10-4 decision last night to the Texas Rangers. The Blue Jays remain a half-game up on Texas for the second wild card spot in the American League. The two teams will meet again tonight at Rogers Centre. Hyun Jin Ryu will take to the mound for the Jays.

In Monday Night Football, Aaaron Rodgers lasted just four plays in his New York Jets debut before leaving the game with an Achilles tendon injury. That didn't matter however, as the Jets were able to pull off a 22-16 overtime win against the AFC East rival Buffalo Bills. New York rookie Xavier Gipson returned a punt 65 yards for the winning score. Rodgers is scheduled to have an MRI today.
