The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation (STF) is pausing all job action, including Thursday’s withdrawal of noon-hour supervision, as talks between the union and government are set to resume.

The union said the Government-Trustee Bargaining Committee extended the invitation late Wednesday, saying it had received a new mandate from the provincial government.

“We welcome the opportunity to return to the bargaining table to discuss teachers’ proposals and the important issues facing education in Saskatchewan,” says STF President Samantha Becotte.

“We are hopeful that the GTBC’s new mandate will allow for productive negotiations that will address the needs of students and teachers.”

At this time, it’s unknown what the mandate from the government includes.

The two sides are scheduled to meet on Monday, February 12 in Saskatoon.
