The Saskatchewan Quit Smoking Challenge is still open for signups until January 31st.

The challenge, run by Lung Sask, aims to provide support to people looking to quit or smoke fewer cigarettes.

Bethany Verma, health promotion manager with the Lung Sask, says they run the challenge through their Saskatchewan Quits Facebook group, but it’s also accessible over e-mail. “It’s a fun way to get people who are on their ‘quit journey’ involved, and in a community together.”

She says the challenges are focused on people sharing their experiences with quitting, rather than mandating that people quit smoking within a certain number of cigarettes.

“It’s just bringing a community together to help support people who are on their ‘quit journey’, but also having those people support each other.”

There will also be a webinar on January 24th at 7 p.m. for anyone to join. “We’re having a panel discussion where professionals in the ‘quit smoking’ space can answer people’s questions.” You can click here to register for the webinar.

Verma says that anyone in Saskatchewan is welcome to join the Quit Smoking challenge, up until the final day, and you can join their Facebook group at any time.  If you're interested in signing up for the challenge, you can find information on registering by clicking here
