Moose Jaw teachers are on strike today, following the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation’s (STF) announcement on Monday regarding rotating, full-day strikes.

The STF, representing 13,500 teachers in Saskatchewan, and the provincial government have been unable to find common ground on key issues including class size and complexity since collective agreement negotiations began in May 2023.

Today’s strikes in Moose Jaw will see the members of the Prairie South Teachers’ Association and Holy Trinity Teachers’ Association on strike. They'll be beside Real Canadian Superstore in Moose Jaw between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Other teachers’ associations on strike today include Horizon Teachers’ Association, Prince Albert and Area Teachers’ Association, and Tri-West Teachers’ Association. Teachers who work for Conseil des écoles fransaskoises schools and Saskatchewan District Learning Centres within the geographic areas of the listed teachers’ associations are also participating in this job action.

Classes are expected to resume tomorrow.
