Music lovers have a great opportunity to hear some live music when the Regina Symphony Orchestra (RSO) and their Regina Symphony Chamber Players put on a pair of free concerts in Moose Jaw this week.

Zion United Church will play host to the 12 members of the Regina Symphony Chamber Players on Thursday, April 25, with an afternoon show starting at 1:45 p.m.

The players will then take a short break before returning to the stage at 7 p.m. to play their second, and longer show.

“We are located in Regina, but we think of ourselves as Southern Saskatchewan’s Orchestra,” said Megan McCormick, Director of Marketing and Development for the RSO.

“It’s important to us to try and leave the city and go on a road trip whenever we can, and Moose Jaw is one of our favourite destinations for that.”

McCormick shared some details as to what kind of music the Chamber Players would be performing at the show:

“It’s called chamber music, which is a smaller form of the big kind of orchestra productions that you might think of,” said McCormick.

You may be somewhat familiar with chamber music, with it being the foundation of a lot of the music people enjoy, the genre is heavily utilized in the background of TV shows, video games, and movies.

“We’re really excited when we can demonstrate the artistry of our musicians and have them be at the front, instead of in the background.” said McCormick.

Both concerts are free of charge and open to the public to attend, with no registration required.
