The Highway 1 overpass was once again struck by an over-height trailer, this time just after 6:30p.m. on Friday, April 19.

A semi-truck was hauling a skid shack on a trailer on highway 1 when it struck the overpass. The impact demolished the skid shack, ejecting it from the trailer and partially blocking the highway.

Emergency crews were quickly on scene to direct traffic and investigate the incident, which did not have any injuries reported as a result.

In a statement from the Moose Jaw Police Service the cost of the damage was reported to be approximately $27,000, with the damage being isolated to the trailer’s cargo.

No damage was reported to the overpass itself, nor was anything noted on the truck or the trailer.

The driver of the semi-truck was issued a ticket under the Highways and Transportation Act, 1997, H-3.01.

After the investigation had concluded the Department of Highways took over the scene and began the cleanup process.

The affected stretch of Highway 1 has since been re-opened.

The Moose Jaw Police Service reminds motorists and truck drivers to double-check their load height as the bridge clearance is 4.5m and to use the alternate routes to avoid future collisions with the infrastructure.
