After the tragic death of Captain Jennifer Casey in a jet crash this spring, an operational pause was implemented for all Snowbirds CT-114 Tutor aircraft.

Now, after extensive technical and operational risk analysis, the pause has been lifted by the Commander of 2 Canadian Air Division, Brigadier-General Denis O'Reilly.

The study has outlined a series of risk mitigation measures that the team is adopting, including some restrictions on flying operations and a focus on increased maintenance requirements.

The remainder of the Snowbirds 2020 air demonstration season has been cancelled, and the team will now focus on gradually returning to flying operations. With the operational pause lifted, the aircraft in Kamloops, B.C. will return to 15 Wing here in Moose Jaw, something expected to happen over the next two weeks.
