Update 4:24 p.m. Highway 1 is now open between Mortlach and Rush Lake. Drivers are cautioned that winter driving conditions still persist.
Update 11:08 a.m.: Highway 1 is still closed between Mortlach and Rush Lake this afternoon in both the eastbound and westbound lanes. RCMP say multiple semis are still blocking the highway. At least five semis were involved in collisions, and another jackknifed just before 11 a.m. RCMP described the blocked highway as "pure ice".
Travel is also still not recommended between Moose Jaw and Mortlach.
The Highway Hotline is showing that Highway 1 is closed between Mortlach and Rush Lake this morning due to drifting snow and icy conditions.
Moose Jaw and Morse RCMP say that multiple semis collided and are blocking the eastbound lane of Highway 1 approximately 15-20 kilometers west of Mortlach, and motorists are asked to avoid the area.
Travel is not recommended on Highway 1 between Moose Jaw and Mortlach.
