Saskatchewan Transportation Minister Eldon Lautermilch assures us that changes are being planned for the dangerous intersection known as 9th NW and Highway 1.

We will soon see some upgrades to the dangerous intersection of 9th Avenue NW and the TransCanada Highway. An intersection that has claimed numerous lives in recent years.

The province and the City of Moose Jaw are jointly funding the upgrade that will see some new on and off ramps constructed according to Transportation Minister Eldon Lautermilch.

"I think it'll be part of '06-'07 so I would expect in the spring. It’s being administered by the city. We've made an agreement that they would do the work and that they would manage it."

An overpass or cloverleaf idea has also been discussed but Lautermilch says there just isn't enough traffic through the intersection to warrant such an expensive infrastructure improvement.

The upgrades are expected to be discussed during Moose Jaw budget talks in the coming weeks and months.
