With the extreme cold expected to come to an end this weekend, it will be a perfect time to get outdoors and spend some time with the family.

Environment Canada is calling for a high of plus six on Sunday.

Winterfest 2023 is taking place at the Kiwanis Pavilion and Oval on Sunday from 1 pm to 4 pm.

"We have a lot of activities planned," said General Manager Donna MacQuarrie-Bye. "It's going to be bigger and better than the past years due to COVID. Hopefully the event will go off really smoothly."

There are several events taking place throughout the day.

"We have wagon rides, as well as some vendors coming in. We have children's games, we have the skating oval, we have a campfire where you can roast marshmallows. We'll have a dollar concession where you can buy a hot dog and crafts for the kids. It's just to promote all the different activities you can do within the park and some of the user groups will be out there to promote their club."

There will also be snowshoeing, snowman building and much more.

Winterfest 2023 is free to attend.
