Friends of the late Heather Maitland are hosting a fundraiser dinner in support of her family following her recent death from cancer.

The fundraiser dinner is being held at the Crushed Can Rec Room and Bar from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on March 28.

Tickets can be purchased at the door or by phone, with the meal consisting of a half rack of ribs, Caesar salad, and a potato side. There will also be a 50/50 draw, and local businesses have donated items for a raffle to be held during the fundraiser.

Those who wish to show their support are urged to pre-book tickets by March 20, as there will be limited tickets available at the door. If unable to attend, donations can be made on your behalf for the family.

“Heather was a wonderful woman, she worked in the schools, we worked with her husband, so we saw her most through the store. She was always kind. She’s just very thoughtful and it’s really upsetting how fast it happened and just hit us really hard,” said Kayla Longworth, longtime co-worker of Heather’s husband, Ken.

Heather worked as a teacher’s aide in Moose Jaw and spent much of her career working as a special needs assistant at King George and Lindale schools.

Heather Maitland was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer on Christmas Day and died tragically a short time later.
