I know our reserves continue to make money and I've heard we're "the envy of other municipalities" but when you and I get served a 2.3% property tax increase from Moose Jaw City Hall, I get a little edgy.

You see, we have over $107 million in reserves.  It's Moose Jaw's sacred cow.  We just sit on it while our property taxes go up.

Oh, there's some encouraging notes in the City of Moose Jaw's 2020 budget news release;

--The 1.3% operating budget increase ensures no service cuts

--We're adding another police officer

--We'll put $3.6 million into improving city streets

--The Kinsmen Sportsplex and Pla Mor Palace will get some upgrades

Oh, and we're going to invest in concrete and asphalt crushing giving us the "potential to save expenditures and generate revenue".

Here's an idea, how about we use that crushed concrete and asphalt to improve our back alleys?  How about that?

Oh, I've got lots of other ideas but I've only got 60 seconds right here, right now.

Thanks for listening.
