The Moose Jaw Warriors just completed the best road trip in franchise history. For 14 straight days, the Warriors loaded up the bus, set up shop in a new city and for six out of those seven games, they came away with the victory.

Moose Jaw finished off the trek with a 3-1 win over the Tigers in Medicine Hat on Saturday, giving the Warriors a 6-0-1 mark on the road trip, which is the first time in franchise history that they have picked up a point in every game on their Western Conference road swing.

"It just shows to our team's character," said 19-year-old forward Justin Almeida. "Playing on the road is a lot harder than playing at home and we've been learning the process, playing harder every game, so that shows the mental toughness that our team has and shows well for us."

The Warriors won five of the seven games by two or more goals and four by three-plus goals. Moose Jaw never surrendered more than two goals in a game over the course of the trip as well.

"I shouldn't be surprised, the players play so well on the road, they seem to buy into that mentality," said Warriors assistant coach Mark O’Leary.

"It's a great opportunity to go on the road, especially after the trade deadline, this is our team, and for the guys to be around each other as much as they have been, that's a good sign and you're able to come away with big efforts, big wins and it wasn't always the same guys every night, it's great for the team."

The Warriors' penalty kill was lights out on the road trip as they went 17-for-17.

"No power-play goals against, that's something that not many people do, especially on the road when you're battling hard in the corners to give up no goals is pretty huge. Special teams helps teams win and when you do something like that, it makes the game easier," said Almeida.

"In the last 10 games, we've really started to dig in and work on the penalty kill more," added O’Leary. "We have a team that plays that P.K. style, grit, hard work and attention to detail, it was just switching those small things, the guys have bought in and that's been a big part of success on the road trip."

The goaltenders were also a huge part of the Warriors' road success with Adam Evanoff having won all four of his starts while Brodan Salmond went 2-0-1. Evanoff finished with a 1.50 goals against average, a 0.949 save percentage and one shutout in four games, while Salmond posted a 1.32 goals against average and a 0.945 save percentage.

Six wins are the most for a Warrior team on a road trip since the team went 7-1-0-0 in 1998-99.

The six victories also push the Warriors' road record to 18-3-2-0 this season. Their 18 road wins are second only to the WHL-leading Prince Albert Raiders, who have 21.  Moose Jaw won a franchise-record 23 games away from Mosaic Place last season.

Now the task is for the Warriors to translate that road success into home success as they've lost four straight home games heading into this Friday's rematch with the Tigers in Moose Jaw.

"We need to carry over the confidence, keep playing with speed and know that we can't rely on home-ice as an advantage, we've got to keep the same mindset that we do on the road and keep battling," said Almeida.
