100 Local People will be Without Jobs

Local management is hoping it won't last long. However, XL Foods, Moose Jaw's beef packing plant, is shutting down its night shift for now.

The plant will operate during the day but about 100 local people will be without jobs.

Management telling us the slow down is due to market conditions. If things improve, the 2nd shift may start up again. How soon? Management admits it could be weeks but could end up being months.

XL Foods in Calgary could not be reached for comment on Friday.
