It's Throwback Thursday - just a minute to remember the good ol' days.

We were talking about gas prices dropping earlier today and it took me back.

Remember when you could fill your gas tank without worrying about how much it was costing?

I do. I recall when I first got my driver's license in 1981. I drove Dad's car in those days. It was a 1978 Buick LeSabre with a huge gas tank and a gas gauge about as big as my kitchen clock.

Dad would let my friends and I take his car out cruising. We'd all chip-in a few bucks for gas. I think we were paying about 50 cents a litre back then so $20 worth of gas would give us about half-a-tank. We'd drive around for hours.

I remember gassing up at the neighbourhood 7-11 one evening back then.

Another guy from our high school was at the next pump. He was a very quiet guy but he was always smiling.

I went into the store to pay at the same time he did.

The clerk asked, "23 cents?"

He said, "Yep", with a glowing grin, flipped her a quarter and said, "Keep the change."

Those were the days!
