It's Throwback Thursday - just a minute to remember the good ol' days.

Remember when you could light up a cigarette pretty much anywhere? I'm glad those days are gone.

I'm thinking about that today as LungSask urges smokers to join the "Saskatchewan Quit Smoking Challenge" this month.

It's estimated we still have over 100,000 smokers in the province. That's just over 11% of the population.

I can only imagine what non-smokers went through back in the day. We could smoke in restaurants and bars, at the doctor's office and the hospital and on airplanes and buses, but not in the first 7 rows! Like that made a difference.

I remember the ashtrays in the lobby at the YMCA. You could take a trip to flavour town after a vigorous workout. It wasn't that long ago.

When I tell young people those stories today their jaws drop and sometimes they laugh because it was ridiculous.

If you are a smoker and you want to quit, you can. I did. I didn't think I could.

You can start the journey with assistance from LungSask. They have the resources and the inspiration for you. Check it out at LungSask.ca
