His incredible 43-year run came to an end Friday when Pat Sajak hosted his final episode of the popular TV game show, Wheel of Fortune.

Many will recall Sajak took over from Chuck Woolery in 1981. Sajak and Vanna White have been welcome guests in my living room for decades.

I don't watch every episode but when I get the chance, it's just fun to watch and participate in a game of Wheel of Fortune. It's half-an-hour of enjoyable leisure time.

It was an emotional final episode on Friday for Sajak and for Vanna and for me too.

It took me back to my high school days when my mom was still around. She was a stay-at-home mom who worked her chores around her busy television schedule which included "Wheel".

Mom's been gone for 37 years now but I fondly remember watching The Wheel of Fortune with her back in the day.

She liked Pat Sajak but she wasn't a fan of Vanna's.

"What does she do?", she'd ask. "All she does is turn letters around. She doesn't even talk!", she said.

I think mom was jealous. I think, deep down, she kinda wanted to be Vanna.
