Looking for something to do during the Family Day long weekend coming up in a few weeks?

The Downtown Moose Jaw Association is bringing back it’s #Snowtorious Family Day in Crescent Park on Saturday, Feb. 17, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event will be full of free, family-friendly activities including horse-drawn wagon rides around Crescent Park, street hockey on Langdon Crescent, outdoor games like Connect Four and cornhole, indoor activities at the public library and hourly tours of the Moose Jaw Museum and Art Gallery.

There will also be a big giveaway for the first 50 people to show up to #Snowtorious Family Day.

“We just wanted our Family Day to provide something that they wouldn’t have to pay for because the Downtown Moose Jaw Association really wants to bring the community together,” said Kelly Carty from the Downtown Moose Jaw Association.

A hotdog barbecue will take place for $2 each or free with a non-perishable food donation to the Moose Jaw and District Food Bank. All monetary proceeds from the hotdog sale will go towards the food bank as well.

This year the event has moved from the holiday Monday to Saturday so that the downtown businesses could be more involved.

The Downtown Moose Jaw Association is hoping the event will build on the successful event they held last year.

“It was great. We had hundreds and hundreds of people come out and enjoy the wagon rides and play street hockey. The mayor came out and played and he had a lot of fun. It was great,” said Carty.

Like the mayor, several special guests ended up making appearances at #Snowtorious Family Day last year and you never know who will show up this year.

“A bunch of firefighters are going to come and member of the Moose Jaw Police Service. They’re all going to come and play hockey on the street with the kids. We’re going to have music from CHAB and it’ll just be a fun day out,” said Carty.
