If you happen to see blasts of fire in the sky near Mossbank this week, don't be alarmed. It's merely SaskEnergy conducting a controlled natural gas flare during maintenance work on the area's gas line.

From Tuesday, July 21st to Saturday, July 25th crews will be emptying an isolated portion of the gas line approximately eight miles west of Mossbank near Highway 718. Burning off the natural gas in the line reduces the carbon footprint of the vented natural gas by 85% and allows maintenance work to proceed safely.

Emergency responders in the area have been notified and SaskEnergy says customers should not expect and disruptions in natural gas service during the process.
