Hundreds of gamers converged to the Moose Jaw Cultural Centre over the weekend for the Moose Jaw Gamers Association’s Winter GAX expo.

It’s estimated that well over 150 people attended the event taking in everything from video games to RPG games.

Moose Jaw Gamers vice president Talon Regent said the numbers showed that they had a good turnout of experienced gamers as well as newcomers.

He talked about some of the more popular games at this year’s event.

“This year, we saw fewer people moving in the RPG direction, and we saw way more people interested in the board games. Now, I think that is in part because one of our executives brought a ton of board games and we had Little Chicago Entertainment here in Moose Jaw sponsoring board games as well,” said Regent.

Each year, the Moose Jaw Gamers take a portion of the proceeds from their GAX events and donate to local children’s charities.

“This year we’ll be donating to the Moose Jaw pediatric ward through the Moose Jaw Health Foundation. We’re not sure yet how much we’re going to be donating because we’re also investing into the future of the Moose Jaw Gamers charity,” said Regent.

Since 2010, the Moose Jaw Gamers have donated over $16,000 to local charities.

This is one of a pair of majority events for the Moose Jaw Gamers. They are now planning for an RPG Day this summer.
