Hunger in Moose Jaw is adding an individual option to their Good Food Box program.

The program has been running for over 15 years, with Hunger in Moose Jaw buying fruits and vegetables in bulk and passing on the savings on to Moose Javians. Produce is typically purchased at 30 per cent less than what you would pay in store.

Sharla Sept, executive director with Hunger in Moose Jaw, said they were seeing a need to offer an individual size. “This box is just an opportunity for those who maybe want just a little less, or just want an add-on to another box at a lower cost.”

The program runs between 18 and 20 times a year, selling between 150 and 200 boxes every time. Sept said this equates to roughly 450 people per packing day.

Items on offer include:

A Large Good Food Box ($25) - for family of 3-5

A Small Good Food Box ($20) - for a couple

An Individual Good Food Box ($12.50) - for a single person

A Fruit Bag ($15) - with 3-4 types of fruit

The boxes contain items like potatoes, carrots, onions, fruit, and seasonal produce.
