The Moose Jaw Co-op recently presented the Moose Jaw Minor Baseball Association with a cheque for $30,000.

The funds will be used to install scoreboards at the 11U and 13U ball diamonds at Parkhill Park on South Hill.

Moose Jaw Minor Baseball board member Jen Tribier said getting the scoreboards was long overdue and couldn’t have happened without the donation.

“Our volunteers have been working hard with the City of Moose Jaw to update our diamonds over the past couple of years, and adding scoreboards was an update on our league’s wish list that was years out without a large donation. Comparing our 13U and 11U diamonds to others around the province, ours definitely needed some attention,” she said.

Tribier added that Moose Jaw Minor Baseball was very thankful for the donation to make this project come to fruition.

“The generosity of Moose Jaw Co-op and their Caring for the Community program will be felt for years within the Moose Jaw baseball community,” she said.

“This donation will allow players, spectators and volunteers a much more enjoyable experience when they're at their local ballpark. It will also increase our opportunity to host provincial tournaments and be proud of the diamonds that we play on.”

Moose Jaw Minor Baseball is hoping to have the new scoreboards operational in time for the 2024 season.
