The Moose Jaw Mavericks minor female hockey program is holding a major tournament this weekend. 

Divisions competing will be U7, U9, U11, U13, U15 and U18. 

Jamie Feiffer, tier coordinator for the Mavericks and tournament director for this weekend's 2024 Moose Jaw Carpet One Mavericks Classic, said there are 47 teams from Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan, comprising 702 players. 

"There's 78 games going on throughout Moose Jaw starting today at noon, going all the way to 5 p.m. on Sunday."

Games are open to the public and will be played at the Red Knight Arena at 15 Wing, the Kinsmen Sportsplex, the Bert Hunt Arena and Wally Boschuk Arena. 

"We've used every hotel, plus a couple teams are staying in Regina, because we just don't have enough hotels. So it's a pretty big weekend for female hockey."
