The Moose Jaw Major AAA All-Stars are heading to the provincial final after beating the North Regina Little League All-Stars, 7-4, in the semifinal on Friday night.

Max Simmons scored a pair of runs in the win for Moose Jaw.

The local squad will now face the Regina Kiwanis Nationals in the Saskatchewan Little League Championship final on Sunday night at 6:30 p.m. in the Queen City.

Mallards & Prairie Dogs Open Provincials with Wins

The Moose Jaw Mallards and Prairie Dogs started off their respective provincial championships on the right foot on Friday night.

The Mallards knocked off the host Macklin Lakers, 12-1, in their opening game at the Baseball Saskatchewan Bantam AA Tier 2 Championship.

Sam Caplette and Cole Breitkreuz led the Mallards with two hits each, while Evan Callaghan drove in three runs in the win.

Callaghan struck out eight over four innings of work on the mound for the Mallards.

Moose Jaw will finish off the round robin by facing the Parkland Expos at 12 p.m. and the Humboldt Dodgers at 6 p.m. on Saturday. The semifinal and final are on Sunday.

The Prairie Dogs outlasted the Battleford Beavers, 15-10, in a high scoring affair on Friday afternoon to open the Baseball Saskatchewan Mosquito AA Tier 1 Provincial Championship in Lloydminster.

The Prairie Dogs meet up with the Yorkton Cardinals at 9 a.m. and the Lumsden Cubs at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday to close out the round robin. The playoff round is on Sunday.
