The Moose Jaw Miller Express continues to extend its lead in the Western Canadian Baseball League’s East Division, as they doubled up the Swift Current 57s 10-5 on Thursday night.  

Moose Jaw has an eight-game lead over the second-place Medicine Hat Mavericks in the east division. 

Nate Mensik went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, and two RBIs, while Dougie Delacruz had two hits, to go along with a double and three RBIs.  

Gabe Soto picked up his third win of the season pitching five innings, only giving up two runs and having a strikeout.  

The game would remain scoreless until the top of the third inning when Moose Jaw would strike for four runs.  

After two straight one-out singles by Luke LaChance and Thomas Soto, Julio Acosta would drive home two runs to give Moose Jaw the 2-0 lead.  

Two batters later Nate Mensik would come to the plate and blast a two-run home run to make it 4-0.  

In the top of the fifth inning, the Miller Express would strike for four runs once again to extend their lead to 8-0.  

Swift Current would pick up two runs in the fifth inning and a single run in the sixth to make it an 8-3 game.  

Moose Jaw added on two more runs in the top of the seventh to put the game out of reach for the 57s.  

The 57s added a pair of runs in the bottom of the ninth inning, but it wasn’t enough, as they would drop their 10th in a row 10-5.  

Moose Jaw will return home on Friday as they kick off a two-game series with the Lethbridge Bulls. The first pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
