Growth at an amazing rate!  The local business community has exploded in Moose Jaw and that has the local Chamber of Commerce in high spirits this summer.

The Chamber has passed along some pretty amazing numbers as we check in on how local businesses are doing this year. Even though the economic downturn is affecting some businesses in Saskatchewan, Chamber Executive Director Brian Martynook says the number of new businesses for Moose Jaw has spiked this year.

"Revenue based at $50,000 dollars or less we have 91 new businesses, with revenues of $50,000 to $500,000 we have 13 new businesses and with revenues over $500,000 we have three and on top of all that we have 64 new home businesses."

Martynook says that's a 50 percent increase over the number of businesses that were started in Moose Jaw by this time last year showing signs that the local economy is optimistic, despite losing a couple of large employers in the last 5 years.
