What a light show for southern Saskatchewan Monday night as some severe weather moved into the area.

Thunderstorms hit most of the bottom half of the province dumping about 4mm of rain on Moose Jaw, 17 in Elbow, 4 in Swift Current, 6 in Saskatoon, 26 in the Battlefords and about 1mm in Regina.

But in the Queen City one home was hit hard as lightning apparently blew a hole through a home on King Street. Luckily no one was injured.

Up in the Saskatoon area near 100 km/hour winds were being reported and in the Battlefords high winds were also reportedly causing damage to streetlights and signs.

Here in Moose Jaw we were lucky, as the only problem reported by the local Fire Department was a malfunctioning alarm.

The storm caused an extensive power outage west and north west of Moose Jaw.  The wind and lightning may have been to blame for two power stations going down.  SaskPower telling us they had one back up and running by around midday Tuesday but, the other one would take until late afternoon.

Communities like Sun Valley at Buffalo Pound, Keeler, Marquis, Caronport, Mortlach, Central Butte, Chaplin up to Tugaske and Eyebrow and surrounding areas were all effected.
