It was big news on Thursday for Moose Jaw Minor Hockey product Jaxsen Wiebe, as he signed a three-year entry-level contract with the NHL's Anaheim Ducks. This season with the WHL's Prince George Cougars and Edmonton Oil Kings, Weibe has 31 points. He was also a member of the Oil Kings' WHL Championship and Memorial Cup run last year. 

Continuing with the WHL, the Moose Jaw Warriors get set to hit the road on Friday to Saskatoon to take on the Blades and then will return home on Saturday to host the Prince Albert Raiders. Both games are at 7:00 p.m. and can be heard on Country 100. 

The road to the Telus Cup Western Regionals in Warman begins on Friday night for the Moose Jaw WINMAR AAA Warriors, as they begin their playoff push in Saskatoon against the Contacts. Game 2 will be back in Moose Jaw on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Ticket information can be found HERE.

Kaycee Nord, 17, of Bushell Park, SK is busy preparing for the Biathlon Saskatchewan Provincials taking place this weekend in Lumsden, SK (Qu'Appelle Valley Nordic).

Biathlon is a mix of cross-country skiing and rifle shooting.

The Grade 12 A.E. Peacock Collegiate student was also a member of Team Saskatchewan at the Canada Winter Games in Prince Edward Island, where she placed 15th (Single Mixed Relay Mix), 28th (6 km Sprint Female), 29th (7.5 km Pursuit Female), and 30th (10 km Individual Female).

"This was my first time, and I guess it will be my last time at the Canada Games competing as an athlete," she said. "It was a really fun time...I met a lot of new kids from different sports and it was kind of cool to talk to them."

Nord will also be competing in the 2023 Canadian National Championships taking place in Valcartier, Quebec March 13-19.

In senior girls, basketball action on Thursday, Assiniboia lost a tough one 54-41 against Lumsden. 

And in the NHL on Thursday night, Ottawa beat the Rangers 5-3, Toronto edged out Calgary 2-1, Vancouver lost 2-1 to the Wild, and Montreal fell 3-2 in LA.
