The Moose Jaw Warriors will be looking to build their team for the future starting Wednesday with the WHL US Priority Draft and then the Prospects Draft on Thursday.

The Warriors will have the 16th selection in the first round of both drafts.

Warriors General Manager, Jason Ripplinger talks about his excitement heading into both drafts.

We’re excited,” Ripplinger said. “We’ve put on a lot of miles this year, watched a lot of hockey and this is what we get rewarded for. The first two rounds are pretty deep. We’re looking at the best player available [at 16th overall]. The record for us is we’ve been picking a lot of defencemen.”

Moose Jaw heads into the Prospects Draft with their own selections in the first, second, third, and fourth rounds, but don’t select again until the eighth round.

From the ice to the ball diamond, the Moose Jaw 18U AAA Canucks will look to start off their Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League season with a bang. They will host the Swift Current 57's on Thursday night at Ross Wells Park in their home opener at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free.
