The provincial government raised nearly $1.8 million in a subsurface mineral public offering this week. The offering was the second of the year.  

In all, there were 64 subsurface mineral permit blocks posted in the Weyburn and Estevan area. Of those ones posted, 41 received acceptable bids, bringing in $1,796,960.62 for 98,616.66 hectares. 

The highest bid for a single block was from NRG Solutions, Inc. For a 6,152.25-hectare block southwest of Torquay. The area is prospective for brine minerals such as lithium. NRG Solutions also acquired the most land with $907,175.79 in bids for 13 permits.  

So far this year, the subsurface mineral public offerings have brought in over $4.2 million in revenue for the province, with the third and final public offering being held on December 13th.
