Fans in Moose Jaw were treated to Brayden Tracey's goal-scoring prowess all season but the Warriors forward put on a show on the international stage on Thursday.

Tracey scored two third-period goals to power Canada to a 5-3 win over Finland in their opening game at the 2019 IIHF Under-18 World Championship in Sweden.

Team Canada, which also features Warriors defenceman Daemon Hunt, scored five unanswered goals to come back and beat the defending gold medalists.

Aku Raty and Antti Saarela scored for Finland in the first period and then Anton Lundell made it 3-0 just 1:01 into the second period.

Sarnia Sting forward Jamieson Rees got Canada on the board just 3:54 later and then Victoria Grizzlies forward Alex Newhook pulled the Canadians within one just before the midway point of the period.

Trailing 3-2 heading into the third, Tracey finished off a great feed from Kootenay Ice forward Peyton Krebs in highlight reel fashion to tie the game just 3:57 into the frame.

Tracey gave Canada its first lead of the game with 5:29 left in the third, finishing off a two-on-one with Kamloops Blazers forward Connor Zary.

Krebs scored into an empty net with 31 seconds left to seal the win for Canada.

Tracey was named player of the game for Canada.

Earlier in the day on Thursday, Warriors import forward Yegor Buyalski scored in the second period for Belarus as they opened the Under-18 Worlds with a 4-3 win over the Czech Republic.

Canada is back on the ice on Friday against Switzerland at 7:30 a.m. and Belarus takes on Finland at 11:30 a.m.
