The Moose Jaw U13 Ice girls’ fastball team came out on top at the Sharon Knott U13 tournament over the weekend.

The Ice opened the tournament on May 28 with wins against the Butte Heat and the Regina Royals Raiders. In both games, the girls scored five runs in the first inning and never looked back.

Moose Jaw finished first in their pool, setting up a semifinal matchup against the Indian Head Angels. It was a close game until the Ice put together four runs in the top of the last inning and held the Angels off the scoreboard in the bottom half to advance to the championship game.

Meeting the Vibank Steelers in the final, Moose Jaw gave up five runs in the first inning, but there was still plenty of ball to be played. Moose Jaw’s bats came alive for the next three innings, scoring five runs in each inning to win the gold medal.
