Moose Jaw, SK — The Moose Jaw Warriors are excited to announce the acquisition of 2004-born goaltender Evan May from the Medicine Hat Tigers.

In the deal, the Warriors send a third round pick in the 2027 WHL Prospects Draft to Medicine Hat.

“Adding Evan May gives us more depth and experience down the stretch,” Warriors general manager Jason Ripplinger said.

May, a Nanaimo, BC product, is in his second season in the Western Hockey League with a 9-7-2-0 record, 3.46 goals against average, 0.884 save percentage and two shutouts in 21 games this season with the Tigers.

The six-foot-three goalie has appeared in 42 games with Medicine Hat and Everett over his WHL career, posting a 14-16-4-0 record with a 3.44 goals against average and an 0.886 save percentage.

May will join in net for the Warriors Jackson Unger and Dimitri Fortin as the team will carry three goalies for the rest of the season.

“Evan will push Jackson and Dimitri to stay on top of their game and we will keep developing each goalie,” Ripplinger said.

May is expected to join the Warriors for this Saturday’s Hall of Fame Game against the Vancouver Giants.

The Warriors take on the Victoria Royals on Wednesday night at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.
