Moose Jaw Ford Curling Centre's Penny Barker rink is the women's curling provincial champions.

Barker, along with third Christie Gamble, second Jenna Enge, lead Danielle Sicinski and coach Mark Lang defeated the Chelsea Carey rink 7-5 to win the Viterra Provincial Scotties in Assiniboia on Sunday.

Up 3-2 after three ends, Barker stole one in the fourth and one in the fifth, a deficit Carey was unable to make up.

Barker will now represent Saskatchewan at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Thunder Bay, Ont. from Jan. 28 to Feb. 6.

Barker opened the provincial Scotties with an 8-6 win over the Brett Barber rink and a 6-5 win over former provincial champion Sherry Anderson. In the A-event final, Barker would drop a 6-4 decision to Carey.

She would defeat Robyn Silvernagle in the B-event semifinal and Amber Holland 8-7 in the B-event final to put her in the one-two page playoff semifinal.

Carey would once again defeat Barker 10-9 to get an automatic berth in the championship final, while Barker would have to go the long way to make the final.

In a low-scoring affair, Barker would beat Holland 4-3 to get a rematch with Carey in the final.
