Four athletes, three coaches, and one mission personnel from Moose Jaw will be representing Saskatchewan at the 2023 Canada Winter Games in Prince Edward Island from Feb. 18 to Mar. 5.  

Kaycee Nord, Eric Swalm, Brooklyn Nimegeers, Avery Gibney, and Paxton Nelson are the five athletes from Moose Jaw competing at the games. Rowan Gray from Brownlee and Kolbi Fenric from Pense are also competing.

Nord will be competing in the senior women's biathlon representing the Moose Jaw Biathlon Club.

Destiny Gibney will coach Saskatchewan’s female Judo squad, while William Wiens will be the manager of the team. Verna Kergan was named the coach for the province’s speed skating team, and Brennen Ronovsky will be at the games as part of the Mission Staff.  

Eric Swalm will be competing in the men’s figure skating, which kicks off on Feb. 28.  

Brooklyn Nimegeers cracked Saskatchewan’s female U18 hockey roster. The Moose Jaw product plays for the Regina Rebels in the Saskatchewan Female U18 AAA Hockey League. Team Saskatchewan will start their tournament on Feb. 27., against British Columbia.  

Paxton Nelson and Destiny Gibney will be competing in the judo competition for Team Saskatchewan. The judo competition will begin on Mar 1. for all provinces and run until Mar. 3.
